The salary range listed in this job posting is for the 23/24 school year. When the current bargaining agreement negotiation is finalized an updated salary range will be provided.

 

Salary range will be prorated to reflect the duration of the position.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Assume responsibility for administering the Summer School program in accordance with SHSD’s summer instructional plan. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following.  Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Coordinate and plan the site’s summer program from the date of hire to the end of the summer school program.
  2. Supervise the site enrollment process, including late registrations.
  3. Coordinate information and logistics across departments and functions.
  4. Recruit, screen, hire and assign summer school professional and paraprofessional staff.
  5. Assign classrooms according to facility needs.
  6. Conduct staff orientation prior to the opening of summer school.
  7. Participate in all scheduled administrator district meetings.
  8. Be on site to supervise summer school prior to and after scheduled start and end times.
  9. Meet with students and/or parents, when appropriate, to maintain summer school attendance requirements.
  10. Facilitate the documentation of student performance.
  11. Coordinate credits earned (high school programs) with the Registrar or Data Clerk for transcription to academic records.
  12. Be responsible for campus control and student discipline.
  13. Maintain accurate discipline, attendance and academic records for the program.
  14. Supervise classroom instruction to ensure adherence to content standards.
  15. Review staff attendance and time sheets, sign, and document.
  16. Make changes in the summer school site master schedule or staffing as necessary.
  17. Prepare summer school reports as required.
  18. Conduct end of session check-out and reflection process with all professional staff.
  19. Perform other related duties in accordance with District policy and terms set forth in the negotiated agreement
  20. Assist in the enforcement of school and District rules and policies

  1. Supervisory responsibility for professional and paraprofessional staff. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in education or teaching.
  • Oregon Administrator License
  • Thorough understanding of school operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coordinate campus functions
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Proven experience in improving graduation and/or attendance rates in high school students preferred.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
  • Preferred experience:
    • Three years experience as a classroom teacher
    • Instructional leadership training
    • Past experience as an administrator preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in team and individual settings. Passionate about working with and motivating struggling high school students and their families.
  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions.  Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Creative problem-solver.
  • General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use e-mail, internet software and word processing software. Preferred experience with 21st Century educational technology tools and blended learning.
  • Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents and members of the community. Focus on “student-learning”, rather than “teaching” preferred. Experience with proficiency-based learning and grading preferred. Training or skills in the following preferred: AVID, Constructing Meaning, Culturally-relevant teaching.
